['ætwʊd], Thomas, britischer Organist und Komponist, getauft in London 23. 11. 1765, ✝ ebenda 28. 3. 1838; studierte u. a. bei W. A. Mozart, wurde 1795 Organist an Saint Paul's Cathedral in London, 1796 Komponist und 1836 Organist der Chapel Royal. Ursprünglich mehr auf dem Gebiet der Oper wirkend (auch Pasticci mit Teilen von Opern Mozarts), wandte er sich später zunehmend der Kirchenmusik zu (u. a. zwei Krönungsanthems, 1820 und 1830).
